Did Not Give In

“We did not give into them for a moment, so that the truth of the gospel might be preserved for you”- Galatians 2:5

Apostle Paul had many a trying times in his life even from within the church itself. There were pressures on him to accept something beyond the truth of the gospel.

The context is related to Titus, a Greek and a young friend of the Apostle. Some of the Christian elders at that time insisted that for any person other than a Jew, if he has to become a Christian, he has to get circumcised becoming a Jew first and then a Christian.  They considered that salvation is meant only for the Jews. But Apostle Paul vehemently opposed this argument, as it was against the truth of the Gospel. In the case of Titus, as he was not a Jew, Apostle was under pressure to accept their argument. It seems that some of the leaders of the church even persuaded Paul to give in for the sake of peace. But he stood like a rock, and as we read, ‘we did not give into them for a moment, so that the truth of the gospel may be preserved for you”.

Joseph had testing time in his life, Daniel had testing time, the Apostles had testing time and even our Lord Jesus had testing time at the garden of Gethsemane. But they all stood like a rock for the sake of preserving the truth.

Beloved readers, you too may be having several testing times even from within your home, church, society or work place. Pressures to give in and forsake the truth!! But God wants us to stand like a rock and not to ‘give into them even for a moment’. We will be victorious and blessed.
